Dear Fellow Members,

As summer shines on Colorado once again, all indications are of a continued, fast-paced growth industry requiring each and every one of us; Perhaps "us" is described as a team of beginning, advanced and licensed surveyors bringing efficient order to our civilization process.

Charged with the orderly placement of an ever-growing population, I would venture the conclusion that we are doing our job well. And, that we have done well throughout this amazing, ten year growth boom. Surveyors come from varied backgrounds, but share a common thread: The desire to find the better way. Listen to idle talk among any two or more surveyors, and you will hear them seek better methods for the next challenge.

We learn from our colleagues. The Southwest Chapter hosted a fine two-day seminar in Durango. As the "Four Corners Seminar", we enjoyed a merged learning resource of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. The courses were well attended, the interaction lively. The interaction among surveyors at any such gathering generates guaranteed satisfaction.

While PLSC is always organizing educational opportunities such as the successful "Four Corners Seminar", PLSC also has resources in the Metro State Office of Continuing Professional Education. At this time, arrangements are underway at Metro State to offer on-line/ DVD college survey courses through the Colorado Mountain College network. Details are yet to be finalized, but the progress is very encouraging. This means that more surveyors than ever before will soon have access to formal education opportunities. We look forward to the official announcement perhaps as early as this August.

Plans are well underway for GIS in the Rockies, coming in September, the Southern Chapter Seminar, and the Fall Technical Session/Annual Meeting in late November.

See you at the next seminar…….

Sincerely yours,

Warren D. Ward, President
